Physics and Physiology of Phloem Transport

Since the work of Münch in the 1920s, it has been the general belief that sugar transport in the phloem vascular system of plants is a passive process, driven by osmotic pressure gradients. In recent years, this mechanism has attracted attention from biologists and physicists alike.

 

Physics and Physiology of Phloem Transport is an interdisciplinary workshop where physicists and biologists can meet and can help each other identify and confront the most important issues in the field.
